Prior to joining the Office of Capital and Forensic Writs, Hector was an investigator at Mayer Consulting, a criminal defense and civil investigation firm in Austin. He specialized in advocating on behalf of Spanish-speaking clients accused of serious felonies, quickly building rapport with his clients, their family members, as well as other witnesses. Prior to his work as a mitigation specialist, Hector owned a production company that made documentaries about social justice as well as the school system in his native island of Puerto Rico. Hector earned his Bachelor's in General Studies from the University of Puerto Rico and furthered his studies at Universidad de Quilmes in Argentina.
